"Please check permissions" error message with USB DAC

Error message “Error setting mirror, please check permissions” may appear when trying to control the deformable mirror with USB DAC in FrontSurfer or OKO DM control software. The problem may be caused by incompatible FTDI driver versions installed by Windows and the software. To deal with it, please proceed as follows: install updated driver from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/D2XX.htm; go to C:\Program Files (x86)\OKO_DM_Ctrl or (C:\Program Files (x86)\FrontSurfer1.4.10.dm) and change the name of ftd2xx.

Bipolar high-voltage amplifier

OKO introduces Bipolar DC HV amplifier. The unit has 8 independent channels with a gain of 50, each producing output in the range of -300 to +300 V. These amplifiers are designed to drive piezoelectric tube actuators and tip-tilt stages. Application include adaptive optics, beam control, and scanning microscopes. The module features compact 40 × 200 × 280 mm size, weight of 1,2 kg, 30 W energy consumption, and works in any country with AC power supply in the range from 85 to 250 V.

What driver is faster -- PCI board or USB unit?

Currently, PCI board is our fastest option. The speed of the USB DAC unit is limited by the restrictions of the USB bus, which updates the values once per 1 ms (all 40 channels are updated at once). For the PCI boards, every channel is updated sequentially, with 1 µs delay (measured value; the data sheet for the chip used on the boards says 5 µs).
